About Trauma Institute & Child Trauma Institute
Mission * History/Activities * Board of Directors * Advisory Board * Faculty * Affiliations * Support TI/CTI
The mission of Trauma Institute & Child Trauma Institute, Inc. (TI/CTI) is to promote the healing and healthy development of children, adolescents, and adults who have experienced trauma or loss; to develop, evaluate, and disseminate effective prevention, assessment and treatment methods.
Dr. Ricky Greenwald founded Child Trauma Institute (CTI) in 2002 in order to more effectively disseminate high quality training programs in trauma treatment. CTI became a Massachusetts not-for-profit corporation in 2005, and was granted federal non-profit (501c3) status as a charitable organization in 2006. The Trauma Institute (TI) name was added in 2008 to better convey the full scope of our activities, which apply to adults as well as children and teens. Dr. Greenwald's clinical practice and therapy retreat services were merged with TI/CTI in 2012.
TI/CTI provides training, consultation, information, and resources for those who work with trauma-exposed children, adolescents, and adults. TI/CTI also conducts research on trauma assessment and treatment, and on its own training programs. TI/CTI provides this web site as a resource for clinicians, researchers, and parents. The site continues to add content, is linked by many sites, has received various awards (that we choose not to list), and currently averages over 50,000 hits per month.
